OCZ is set to bring their own contender to the M.2 market by. However, as it is essentially composed of a pair of SandForce-based SSDs running in Festplattenverbund 0, we were expecting Mora than a 15 Performance increase. In order to get around the legacy standard, consumer SSDs are starting to pick up NVMe, a new storage protocol designed for flash. To that end, our CES coverage continues with a visit to our friends at OCZ. Not only are the physical size of drives going down, but pricing as well, while capacity and performance is going up. The 512 GB version comes with 476.94 GB of formatted capacity, and 64-bit version of CrystalDiskMark Sequential Q32TR1 test finished with 2.6 GB/s read and 1.56 GB/s write. The OCZ RevoDrive 120GB is easily the fastest Solid-state-disk we’ve tested and zum Thema particularly präpotent in our File copy and application tests. This is a pretty exciting time in the storage arena with the release of the M.2 form factor and much faster NVMe-based drives. RevoDrive 400 will be launched to market in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1TB capacity, enabled by Toshiba’s most advanced MLC NAND Flash memory. The system used for testing at CES 2016 featured Intel Core i7 6700K, 16GB DDR4 (Single-Channel) and multiple OCZ SSDs – RevoDrive 400 M.2, RevoDrive 400 PCIe, as well as OCZ Arc 100, Vector 180, and Trion 150 SATA-based solid state drives.

The ATTO DiskBenchmark test reported mush faster speed compared to factory specifications, peaking at 2.69 GB/s for reads and 1.6 GB/s for writes. OCZ gives RevoDrive 400 a speed of around 2.4 GB/sec for reads and 1.6 GB/sec for writes while IOP are rated as 210K for reads and 140K for writes. This move to M.2 form factor allows RevoDrive 400 to be installed in desktops and laptops. The new RevoDrive 400 is built as an M.2 form factor product with an additional PCIe x4 add-in card which is similar to Kingston’s HyperX Predator.
